CfP: Paper Development Workshop for Young Researchers on Contemporary Asia

Young German researchers who pursue an academic career are facing increasing pressure to publish their research result in refereed international academic journals. As publishing is not so much an art as a craft, guidance by coaches is extremely important for the acquisition of necessary knowledge and experience. However, such guidance may not always be readily available to young German researchers. The Institute of East Asian Studies at Duisburg-Essen University in cooperation with the German Association of Asian Studies is announcing a paper development workshop to take place at the Duisburg campus of Duisburg-Essen University from April 18-19, 2008. The aim of the workshop is to introduce junior German researchers in the field of contemporary Asia to the task of publishing in international refereed journals. In order to make this a fruitful exercise, we believe, it is best to tailor and polish papers for specific journals. The announced workshop focuses on the „Social Science Journal Japan“ and „Asian Survey“, which will be covered by dedicated workgroups with renowned coaches. Besides improving their individual papers participants will also discuss the „dos and don’ts“ in academic publishing in general.
